Easy One-Bowl Challah Recipe
Ingredients

1 cup warm water (not hot)

2 teaspoons dry yeast

¼ cup sugar

¼ cup oil (canola or vegetable)

1 egg
-
1 teaspoon salt

3½ cups all-purpose flour

1 egg, for egg wash

Sesame or poppy seeds
Instructions

In a large bowl, mix the warm water, yeast, and sugar.
Let sit for 5–10 minutes, until foamy. -
Add the oil, egg, and salt. Mix well.

Gradually add the flour until a soft, slightly sticky dough forms.

Knead right in the bowl (or on the counter) for 5–7 minutes, until smooth.

Cover and let rise for 1–1½ hours, until doubled.

Shape into a braid or a simple round loaf.

Place on a lined baking tray, cover, and let rise for 30 minutes.
